Research Peptide

TB-500

A synthetic version of a naturally occurring peptide involved in actin regulation. Supports tissue repair, cell migration, and angiogenesis, reduces inflammation and scar formation, and aids flexibility and recovery in muscles, tendons, and wounds. Commonly studied for injury healing and reducing fibrosis.

Overview

TB-500 is a synthetic analogue of the 17-amino-acid active region of Thymosin Beta-4 (Tβ4), a naturally occurring 43-amino-acid peptide found at high concentrations in platelets and wound fluid. Its primary mechanism involves binding to G-actin monomers, thereby regulating actin polymerization dynamics critical to cell migration, differentiation, and tissue remodeling.

Unlike site-specific repair compounds, TB-500 exhibits systemic distribution in animal studies, meaning it has been investigated for its capacity to promote healing across multiple tissue compartments simultaneously — including skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, tendon, ligament, skin, and the central nervous system.

Research Highlights

Animal models have demonstrated TB-500's ability to enhance cardiovascular recovery following ischemic events, accelerate wound closure through promotion of keratinocyte and endothelial cell migration, and reduce fibrotic scar formation. Its role in modulating inflammatory cytokines has also been a subject of investigation, with studies observing a dampening of acute inflammatory responses in injured tissue.

Research has also explored TB-500's potential to improve range of motion and flexibility in musculoskeletal injury models, as well as its role in the survival and differentiation of neural stem cells. Its systemic availability distinguishes it from more localized repair peptides, making it a frequent subject of comparative regenerative medicine research.
